Join us in Portland for a great week of summer camp and fun. We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with The University of Southern Maine coaching staff to bring a summer lacrosse camp to Fitzpatrick Stadium. The camp will be broken up into two half day options. The morning session will be from 9:00 - 12:00 daily for ages 6-12 followed by the afternoon session from 12:00 - 3:00 daily for ages 13 - 17. Campers will learn individual stick skills, positional play, team concepts, and will scrimmage daily. Join us for an unforgettable week of lacrosse training and fun!

About Our Coaches

Kyle Baker

Coach Baker is currently is his 4th season as 1st Assistant and Offensive Coordinator at the University of New England. He is also currently a member of the Belgium Men’s National Team along with acting as General Manager for the Maine Northmen, a new Semi-Professional Box Lacrosse team based in southern Maine that he founded in early 2019.

Prior to UNE Coach Baker coached high school lacrosse first at Cheverus HS as a Head JV and Varsity Assistant for two years and then at Falmouth HS as a Varsity Assistant for 3 years, helping to win the 2016 Class B State Championship in his final season. He has also coached teams, run clinics, and managed events for various club programs throughout southern Maine.

Most recently, Coach Baker played attack for Belgium in the 2018 World Lacrosse Championships in Israel where he helped lead them to a 4-4 record(best in program history) and finished ranked 3rd in Goals and 9th in Points among the tournament leaders. He also represented Team Belgium in the fall of 2017 at the Boxmania Tournament(box/indoor) in Lille, France where he earned the “Best Scorer” award for leading the tournament in goals and points, and at the 2016 European Lacrosse Championships in Budapest, Hungary where he finished ranked 3rd in total points.

Coach Baker has adapted his playing and coaching through years of experience in the indoor game(box lacrosse) as well. He is currently in his 5th season playing Forward for the Blazers of the Boston Box Lacrosse League(New England’s Premier Men’s Box League). The Blazers consistently have current and former MLL and NLL experienced players and have won the league championship 5 years in a row. Coach Baker also played 5 years of Semi-Pro Box Lacrosse for the Vermont Voyageurs in the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League, represented the USA indoor team in the 2013 Bowhunter Cup vs. the Iroquois Nationals, and helped win a championship with the Snipers of Premier Series Lacrosse in 2015.

Coach Baker finished his collegiate playing career in 2013 at the University of Southern Maine where he was a 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-New England ECAC Attackman while setting the single-season records for goals and points scored. He played 3 seasons at USM and 1 season at Merrimack College, the 2018 NCAA DII National Champions, where he started his college career. Prior to Merrimack, Coach Baker was 2006 graduate of Kennebunk High School where he was a Varsity Tri-Athlete, a USILA All-American, Captain, Team MVP, and earned multiple state and conference honors before spending one year as a post-graduate student at Holderness School where he played NE Prep football, hockey, and lacrosse.

Camp Details

Check in/out: All campers check in daily at 8:45 am with check out at 12:00 pm.

Age & Ability: Our camp is open to boys ages 6-16, all ability and levels are welcomed.

Camp Schedule

8:45 - Campers arrive and check in; Stretching and warm-up
9:15 - First Session - Individualized skill work

9:45 – Team Concepts – Settled game awareness and play
10:15 - Position specific training
10:30 – Break, team building and leadership events
10:45 – Unsettled and settled situational game play / scrimmages
12:00 – Daily review and award ceremony – Pick up


Morning Training Session 1

Fundamental Stick Work - Specialized stick routines involving box and targeted fundamental drills


Position Specific Training

Defense - including a rotation of midfielders

Footwork – pivot, recovery and angles
Stick work – clearing, carrying and stick protection
Field Awareness – slide, recovery and on ball play



Situational Awareness – spacing, vision and offensive flow
Shooting– time and room, on the run, shot placement and selection
Dodging – from, X the ally and up top
Riding – drop back, pressure and 10-man rides



Situational Awareness – spacing, vision and offensive flow
Shooting– time and room, on the run, shot placement and selection
Dodging – from, X the ally and up top
Defensive Play – body positioning, field awareness and sliding



Communication - ball positioning, dictating the defensemen’s position and slides
Mechanics – placement in cage, off stick and stick side movement
Clearing – moving the ball quickly, communicating where to go with the ball and stick work


Face Off Specialist

Mechanics – footwork and body positioning
Outlets – pushing the ball to wings, communicating how and where they should go
Draw – speed work, counter moves and development of additional moves


Specialized Leadership Games and Events
Lacrosse capture the flag, lax baseball, lax water balloons, lax maze runner, ultimate lacrosse and other leadership activities


Unsettled Situational Game Play, focused on special awareness specific to each type of situation

2v1 Fast play from the ally, X and Y
Cross field 3v2 continuous play
3v4 off ground ball and clears
Full field transitional continuous play


Morning Training Session 2

Grouped Position Specific Training- Attack vs. Defense, Midfield vs. Midfield and LSM’s

1v1’s, 2v2’s 3v3’s, 4v4’s– from all positions on the field focusing in
on specific game philosophy’s, techniques and spatial awareness


Game Play - Clear ride scrimmage, full field scrimmages, camp championship tournament, 7 vs 7, box lacrosse tournament
