About Our Coaches

Rebecca Sheinfeld

Coach Rebecca Sheinfeld is currently in her first season as the Assistant Coach at Mercer University.

Sheinfeld was formerly the head coach of the Methodist women's lacrosse team where she compiled an overall record of 8-8 with a USA South conference mark of 6-5 in her first season as head coach at MU.

After two struggling season during the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2022 season witnessed the program's first winning season since 2017. Sheinfeld led the team to an overall record of 10-8 with a conference record of 7-3. The team finished the season on a five game win streak before falling short in the USA South Conference Tournament semifinals to No. 1 seed Meredith. This was the team's first time returning to postseason play since 2019. Sheinfeld coached five players to USA South All-Conference honors (two first-team, three second-team). Highlights from the season included Kayla Nee setting a new program record for single season assists (46) and midfielder Julee Delellis being selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Senior All-Star game.

2019 saw the Monarchs reel off six consecutive victories, their longest win streak since 2006. Included in the streak was a 13-9 win over William Peace in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament to earn Methodist only its second postseason victory in a decade. The Monarchs fell to the eventual conference champion and top-seeded Meredith College in the semifinals. Sheinfeld oversaw three Methodist players earn all-conference honors, including first-teamer Sam Short.

A four-year letterwinner on the women's lacrosse team at NCAA Div. I Campbell, Sheinfeld spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Messiah College prior to coming to Methodist.

While a GA at Messiah, Sheinfeld helped the Falcons to a pair of MAC Commonwealth Conference titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances. In addition to assisting on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, Sheinfeld worked in all aspects of recruiting, as well as the development and management of special events such as the 20th Anniversary Celebration and the team's clinics and camps. Following her first season at Messiah, she served a summer internship in the Office of Academic Support in Athletics at Villanova University.

The Falcons were ranked as high as No. 4 nationally in 2017 and advanced to round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. In 2018, Messiah was ranked as high as No. 12 and had six all-conference selections, including the conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Prior to attending Messiah to pursue her master's degree in higher education, Sheinfeld was a member of Campbell University's inaugural women's lacrosse team. Sheinfeld appeared in 65 games with 57 starts in her career for the Camels. She served as a team captain during her junior and senior seasons and wrapped up her career with 42 goals, 19 assists, 68 ground balls and 44 draw controls playing primarily in the midfield.
