Overview

GameBreaker returns to the Naples / Fort Meyers area for its 10th annual girls lacrosse camp.  Join Aricka and her top-notch staff for a great week of lacrosse instruction and new friends.  Campers will play on FGCU athletic fields and stay on-campus in air conditioned dorms.

Covid-19 Policy: Proof of Vaccination OR proof of negative COVID PRC tests within 72 of camp IS required prior to arriving at camp. In addition we ask ALL CAMPERS to bring in there health forms, Athletic Monitoring Form, and COVID Liability Waiver to camp check-in.

About Our Coaches

Lauren Bennett

Lauren Bennett enters her sixth season as the Head Coach of the Seahawks Women’s Lacrosse team. Bennett led Keiser to the programs first-ever NAIA National Championship in 2021 with a perfect 16-0 record. She was named the first-ever coach at KU in May of 2016. During her career at Keiser, coach Bennett has guided the Seahawks to a 47-25 record during her five seasons in charge. She has led Keiser to three NAIA National Tournaments, claiming the programs first-ever National Championship in 2021 as well as two Mid-South Regular Season Championships. Bennet has been named the NAIA Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2021.

During the 2021 season, Keiser beat the #2 team in the country to capture their first-ever NAIA National Championship, finishing the year a perfect 16-0. KU reached the #1 National Ranking for the first time in school history with 11 All-Conference Selections and 6 NAIA All-Americans.

During the 2019 season, Keiser went 14-5 and finished with a share of the Mid-South Conference Championship in their first season in the conference. KU appeared in the semi-finals of the NAIA tournament and had a season high ranking of #3.

Prior to Keiser, Bennett spent three seasons as the Assistant Coach at Florida Southern College. In her three years as an assistant, she helped lead Florida Southern to their first NCAA Division II National Championship in 2016. She also aided in winning two SSC Regular Season Championships and one Tournament Championship.

Bennett played one season at Lock Haven University and was a member of the school's 2009 NCAA Division II finalist women's lacrosse team.

After playing one year at Lock Haven, Bennett transferred to St. Mary's College of Maryland, where she was a three-year member of the women's lacrosse team and a two-year member of the field hockey program.

During her three seasons at St. Mary's, Bennett amassed 55 goals and 15 assists for a total of 70 points and netted multiple game-winning goals, all while taking the majority of the draws as the squad's draw specialist. In field hockey, she was a defender and earned the Seahawk Spirit Award in both 2010 and 2011.


Camp Details

Check-in/out: Overnight and Extended Day Campers check-in at 12:00 pm on the first day of camp and check out at 12:00 pm on the last day. On the second and third day of camp, the extended day campers will arrive at 8:45 am and get picked up at 9:00 pm.

Check-In is between 12pm-1pm at Osprey Hall in South Village. Dorms are Triple Occupancy Rooms

Age & Ability: Camp is open to ages 8-16, all ability levels welcome.

Meals Provided: Overnight campers will be provided with all meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Extended day campers will be provided with Lunch and Dinner

Morning Training Session 

Fundamental Stick Work - Specialized stick routines and targeted fundamental drills

Position Specific Training

Defense - including a rotation of midfielders
Footwork - pivoting, recovery and angles
Stickwork - clearing, carrying, grounds balls and stick protection
Field Awareness - recovery and on ball play
Body Positioning - ABCDs of defense (for 1 on 1 defense)

Attack 
Situational Awareness - spacing, vision and offensive flow
Shooting - time and room, on the run, shot placement and selection, and faking before shooting
Dodging - from X, the ally and up top,
Transitioning- Riding the ball

Midfield
Situational Awareness - spacing, vision, and offensive flow
Shooting - time and room, on the run, shot placement and selection and faking before shooting
Dodging - from X, the ally and up top
Defensive Play - body positioning and field awareness
Transitioning- Riding the ball, fast breaks, settling

Goalie
Communication - ball positioning, dictating the defense’s positions and player positioning
Mechanics - placement in cage, off stick and stick side movement, reaction time
Clearing - moving the ball quickly, communicating where to go with the ball and stick work

Draw Specialist
Mechanics - footwork and body positioning
Taking the Draw - pushing , pulling, or self-drawing, ball tracking
Circle - speed work, ground balls, ball tracking, and reaction time

Afternoon Training Session 

Unsettled Situational Game Play, focused on special awareness specific to game-like situations
2v1, 3v2- Fast play from the elbows and X
Crossfield 3v2 continuous play
3v4 off ground ball and clears
Full field transitional continuous play

Grouped Position Specific Training- Attack vs. Defense, Midfield vs. Midfield
1v1’s, 2v2’s 3v3’s, 4v4’s– from all positions on the field focusing in
on specific game philosophy’s, techniques and spatial awareness

Specialized Team Building and Leadership Events
Lacrosse capture the flag, lax baseball, lax water balloons, lax maze runner, ultimate lacrosse, lacrosse tic-tac-toe racing, lacrosse head-shoulders-knees-toes-ball, and other leadership activities

Evening Training Session 

Game Play – 7v7, small sided games, full field scrimmage, situational gameplay, clearing and riding the ball, camp championship tournament
