How GameBreaker Lacrosse Camps are Structured

The goal of all lacrosse camps should be to improve the individual lacrosse skills of those in attendance, while having fun and meeting new friends. Not all camps are able to offer this, but we’re proud to have all that and more at GameBreaker each and every year.

We’ve been going strong since 2001 and have provided unforgettable experiences for more than 65,000 campers during that time. The coaches we bring in every year are some of the most talented in the game and have backgrounds as current and former professional players, winning college coaches and/or proven high school coaches.

There’s a concerted effort toward providing individualized training in a progressive curriculum. Running group lax drills can be helpful, but not so much when that’s the only thing offered. Every player is different and what helps one person may not help someone else nearly as much.

While each camp format varies from the next, we focus on making sure every aspect of the game is touched upon and improved in some way. So, there are 10 specific skill clinics offered, focusing on the following:

  • Defense (team and individual)
  • Ground balls
  • Dodging
  • Shooting
  • Fast breaks
  • Triangle offense
  • Stick skills
  • Clears
  • Man up, Man down
  • Face-off and Wing play

Once it’s time to check out and head back home at the end of the week, campers will develop a greater understanding of team play, learning the concepts to help make their team better and by having fun in the process.

In order to maximize your improvement during the weeklong camp, all campers will be grouped by age and ability after individual evaluations at the start of camp. There are three general GameBreaker Skill Groups available:

  • Division I: Grades 9-12
  • Division II: Grades 6-8
  • Division III: Grades 3-5

Participating at either one of our overnight, extended day or day camps will ultimately dictate what your daily schedule will look like, but the same general idea on how to approach it is kept throughout. The mornings have more of a focus on individual skill work and positional training, while the focus shifts in the afternoon to team concepts and also some games being played.

In addition to attention being paid to on-field lacrosse skills, our coaches and directors are trained to go beyond that for our players. Being Double-Goal Certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance means they’re also helping build the character of campers in attendance so they can also experience success off the field.

We’re considered the industry leader for a reason and we’re excited to have you join us for an all-around great experience this summer! Whether your goal is to make the lacrosse team next year or eventually earn an NCAA scholarship, everything you need to be successful and improve as a player is right here at GameBreaker.
