When it comes to offering and running GameBreaker Lacrosse Camps throughout the summer, we have a few goals in mind, but our focus is always the same. It’s on you!
We want you to make strides on the field, but also be able to accomplish that in a fun and safe environment. Since we have all ages and skill levels join us each year, it’s important to find a way to put every camper in the best possible position to succeed and experience growth in some way, shape or form.
Each lax player is different, which is why our staff takes a personal approach when it comes to providing instruction. What works for one young athlete isn’t necessarily going to work for the next one.
The million-dollar question is: how can you make the most out of your summer lacrosse camp experience? Spending a week with us seems like a long time, but it goes much quicker than you think. There are a few fundamental things you should keep in mind to truly get as much as you can out of a lacrosse camp, and here are the four biggest ones.
Pick the right camp format for you
This one is incredibly important because whichever camp you choose will be a main factor in what kind of experience you’ll have! Picking the right location – whether it’s close or further away from home – is something you should think about, but what’s most important is the style of camp you choose.
We typically offer four basic kinds of camp formats throughout the country: overnight, extended day, day and half-day options. Check out this blog post to see the differences and what suits you best.
Pack everything you need
If you don’t have the necessary gear with you to hit the field, it’ll be hard to get the most out of camp! Depending on the type of camp you choose, your packing list will vary a bit. You’ll receive a confirmation packet no less than 30 days before camp starts to get the official list of things you need, but this provides a general idea.
Take advantage of the top-notch instruction!
One of the reasons why GameBreaker is considered the leader in lacrosse camps is due to our coaching staff. They include some of the best in the sport, with experience as successful high school and college coaches, along with former college and professional players.
We also have Ryan and Casey Powell to help run the show, and they’re no strangers to success on the lacrosse field. Check out some of the staff members that joined us last year at camp.
Pay attention to both the on-field & off-field lessons
Becoming a better lacrosse player is the main goal of our camps, but we want to focus on the mental and emotional side of the game instead of just the physical aspect. We’re proud to be the only ones in the country to have staff members fully Double-Goal Certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance. This shows a commitment to building the character of players, both on and off the field.
Now that you know how to make the most of your experience, it’s time to go and have some fun!
