Girls Winter Academy Session I
The Winter Academy Training is designed to provide lacrosse instruction for girls, and will be held at InSports Center in Trumbull, CT. These sessions will be focused on individual skill development - positional training, shooting, dodging, defense, offensive and defensive strategies/scenarios, goalie play , as well as team offensive and defensive concepts. Our coaching staff is invested in the individual training and growth of each player. We will develop elite players in a challenging and exciting atmosphere where leadership and teamwork will be expected of all players. On top of the hour long on-field sessions, there will be classroom sessions devoted to film breakdown and X's and O's. It is our hope that each player can carry their love of the sport with them and always strive to reach their highest potential, both on and off the field. The coaching staff will include other top High School coaches and former NCAA players.
About Our Coaches
Kristin Keneally is the Head Coach at Weston High School. Kristin is a 2007 graduate of the University of Connecticut where she was a member of the UConn Women's Lacrosse team. Kristin earned honors as a IWLCA All Northeast All-Star and Big East Conference All-Star Honoree in 2007. Kristin was also awarded the Sam Witroyl Leadership and Sportsmanship Award in her senior year. Kristin has had numerous experiences coaching girls lacrosse at the youth, high school and college level. She is entering her third year as head coach for the Weston High School girls varsity lacrosse program.
Kyra is a 2015 graduate from Quinnipiac University where she was a member of the Quinnipiac Women's Lacrosse team. Kyra earned honors as NEC Rookie of the Year and was a three time All Conference Player (MAAC & NEC). During her career at Quinnipiac, Kyra broke the all-time leading scorer record with 157 goals and the points record for both men and women with 215 career points. She was also a two time MAAC Scholar-Athlete recipient.
Kyra grew up in Long Island, NY, where she played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse at Farmingdale High School. During her time there, she won two state, three Long Island, and four Nassau County championships. Kyra was honored as a two time All County lacrosse player and two time All County basketball player. She has coached for the Long Island Yellow Jackets and Farmingdale Youth Lacrosse Club, as well as ran clinics at Quinnipiac University.
Kyra has had numerous experiences coaching girls lacrosse at the youth and high school level. She is just wrapped up her season coaching grades K-4 with the Weston Lacrosse Club and is currently coaching rising eighth graders with Gold Coast lacrosse club.
Mondays: 5th/6th & 7th/8th Grade training will consist of 1 hour of turf time covering in-game situational drills, offensive and defensive positional training and scrimmages. The training will also include 30 minutes of a combo of Elite training by InSports Performance Center, which will work on strength and conditioning, speed and agility and film room breakdown each week. The half hour presented by InSports will take place a half hour before or after the training session.
