About Our Coaches

Rachel Welch

Rachel Welch is currently the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Wesleyan University. She was named to the position in September of 2015 following Kimberly Williams hire. In her first season as the Assistant at Wesleyan, the team made vast improvements. In the 2016 season the team tied to make it into the NESCAC’s post conference play. This was a bench mark accomplishment for the squad since the conference holds seven of the top twenty teams in Division III nationally. Although the team lost the coin toss to proceed into playoffs, everyone involved feels eager for the 2017 season. In one year Coach Williams and Welch also coached two All-region selection players, they are hoping to add more to the list this upcoming season.

A 2013 graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, she earned a degree in Communications. Welch, a four-year member of the Scarlet Knights women's lacrosse program, was a three-time Big-East All-Academic selection as well as being a three-year member of the IWLCA All-Academic Squad. In her senior year, she was part of a dominant Scarlet Knight's defense which was ranked 6th in the NCAA in goals against.

After graduation, Welch joined the King's College Women's Lacrosse coaching staff as an assistant, and held that position for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

During her time at King’s College, the team improved tremendously on the field. The Monarchs saw a boost in their conference win/loss record and earned a playoff berth in 2015. Welch coached five all-conference players in her two years. In 2015, two freshmen earned first team all-conference awards - they were the only freshman to get all conference honors in the MAC Freedom Conference. One of the freshmen was also named the MAC Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year.

Welch is a native of Medford, N.J. and is a graduate of the dominant Shawnee High School lacrosse program. While there she earned All-South Jersey honors, All-County honors, and All-Conference honors. She was also a member of the South Jersey Select Girls lacrosse club team.
